Meet Alex, Financial Planning and Analysis Manager
Team player, engaged, passionate, and eager are just a few words that come to mind to describe Alex Edgel, Financial Planning and Analysis Manager by The Ohio Masonic Home Leadership personnel.
“Alex is always eager to take on any project big or small. He brings a unique perspective and continuously looks for opportunities for improvement,” said Brooke Herring, Corporate Director of Finance for The Ohio Masonic Home.
“Alex is the epitome of a team player, doing whatever is needed of him. Be it a new project, in recent example a new position, or on a day-to-day basis helping the team during crunch time,” said Tom Maloney, COO and CFO for The Ohio Masonic Home.
Alex began his career at The Ohio Masonic Home in December of 2015 as an Accountant with a focus on the financial reporting for Browning Masonic Community, as well as, handling all of the Accounts Payable for the entire organization. While working with Accounts Payable, it gave Alex an opportunity to meet and interact with employees and residents across the organization at all three campuses.
“I enjoy coming to work with the understanding that everyone here is working towards the same thing. The Fraternity has set a vision to help their brothers and sisters, and all of us are working to improve the lives of our Residents. It is nice to have the Corporate Office located here at the Springfield Masonic Community campus, so work is a little more enjoyable getting to interact daily with our residents,” said Alex Edgel, Financial Planning and Analysis Manager.
“Alex interacts with both internal and external customers on the daily basis and will go the extra mile to ensure any issues are resolved, all questions are answered, and the customer has everything thing they need,” continued Brooke.
“It is always a pleasure to see Alex interact with our residents. There are always laughs and smiles when he is engaged with them. He understands, and lives every day, our mission and purpose and it shows in his passion with our customers,” continued Tom.
Alex grew up in Dayton, Ohio where he still resides today. He graduated from The Ohio State University. Prior to graduation, he worked at a golf course, as well as, his father’s home improvement company during summer break. Post graduation, Alex held positions in the accounting field before transitioning to The Ohio Masonic Home.
Alex is a big sports fan. In fact, in the fall he is a high school volleyball coach. He spends a majority of his free time on the golf course and also enjoys cooking and baking.
“I can’t say I am good at either one (cooking or baking), but I enjoy it. My New Year’s resolution is to cook full meals more often this year,” said Alex.
Alex was promoted in December 2018 to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager. His responsibilities include compiling the yearly budget, preparing the yearly cost report, and updating monthly financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities across the organization.
“This company has really expanded my appreciation for team work. Our Finance team bands together whenever an urgent project pops up. The Corporate team is constantly looking to each other to improve our offerings and WE as a company have constant open dialogue on issues and opportunities ahead of us,” continued Alex.
