At Western Reserve Masonic Community, our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with Mindy from Environmental Services so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Western Reserve Masonic Community. Meet Mindy, a Western Reserve Masonic Community Super Star!
How long have you worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community?
I have worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community (WRMC) for five and a half years. It was hard for me coming here. I had to leave my previous job because it closed. It is always hard to make a change, but it didn’t take long for me to know that I had a new family. I was enjoying coming to work every day.
What makes Western Reserve Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?
Since this is the first senior living community for me, I can’t compare, but what makes WRMC special for me is the people! For some of our community members, especially during the pandemic, we may be the only person they saw. Therefore, I wanted to make the time I was with them very special.
It’s the little things for me that makes working here so special. It may be as simple as opening a jar for a community member that was having difficulty and watching them smile. I get to know the community members and that makes every day special for me.
At WRMC, we work as a team. By doing so, you get to know the people you work with and you build a real friendship with them. We take care of each other. It makes the days pass so quickly and when it’s time to go home, you leave with a smile on your face.
What do your daily responsibilities include?
I clean five residences per day and I start cleaning in their homes at 9:00 AM. You are in each residence approximately one hour. You work as a team, so there is usually always two people in each residence. I clean their home like I am cleaning my own. I take pride in knowing that I have given our community membes the best job that I possibly can. I do basic cleaning such as kitchens (sink, counter top, stove, refrigerator, microwaves, etc.) and bathrooms. I also dust and vacuum too. Each person’s home is cleaned every two weeks.
While cleaning, I like to get to know the community members. Some of them I have known for several years, but it’s always exciting to learn something new about them. That’s the best part of my day. They are thankful for us and I am thankful for them.
What are some of your favorite benefits Western Reserve Masonic Community offers?
I really appreciate our insurance coverage. We have medical, dental and vision. You never know when you may need the coverage. It’s nice not to have to worry about it.
We have PTO time that has no end date. Sometimes you can’t plan when you are going to need to use this time. Like the insurance, it’s so nice not to have to worry about what you are going to do.
Let’s not forget the Christmas party, the lunches and the cookouts!! Events like this helps you to remember that you are part of a family while working at WRMC.
What would you tell a prospective applicant about Western Reserve Masonic Community?
I look forward to coming to work every day. Work is exciting! That is how you should feel when you go to work. Choose to work some place that is good to you and provides the benefits that you need. Look for a good administrator that you can talk to and that treats you well. Look for a place where coming to work feels like fun. What I have just described is how it feels to work at Western Reserve Masonic Community. I hope you will consider joining me here.

The people! All of the people, my boss, our campus president and most importantly the community members are why I love working here. I couldn’t ask for a better boss than Carol Gatt. She listens to you if you need to talk and guides you if you are learning new skills. WRMC is a bright, cheerful place to work. I feel happy and because of that I can share my happiness with our community members.
I feel “at home” when I am here. I wouldn’t want to be any place else.
