June 2021 Superstar Spotlight

At Springfield Masonic Community, our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with a dietitian named Rebecca so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Springfield Masonic Community. Meet Rebecca, a Springfield Masonic Community Super Star!

How long have you worked at Springfield Masonic Community?

I have worked as a dietitian for 5 years since graduating from Fairborn High School and the University of Cincinnati. I have worked at Springfield Masonic Community (SMC) for a little over 2 years.

What makes Springfield Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

When I started working at SMC, I quickly discovered that this is a people focused community. Employees care about the community members as well as their co-workers. That is very important to me as I discovered that all facilities are not alike. Our community members come first. I really enjoy working at Springfield Masonic Community.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

My responsibilities vary from day to day. I enjoy meeting all of the new community members as they arrive at SMC. We discuss their dietary needs. I also participate in concern conferences with the medical staff. I complete the required assessments on diet and weight change on a quarterly and annual basis.

I prepare menus and sometimes get to help out in the kitchen. Every day is different and that makes coming to work exciting and very enjoyable.

What are some of your favorite benefits Springfield Masonic Community offers?

I really appreciate the great benefits that SMC offers all of its employees. The benefits meet our needs, ranging from the great daily meals to college tuition. The college tuition is paid at the beginning of the class, instead of being a reimbursement after the class ends.

The pay is very fair and as you look at your pay check, you can use a portion of that income to pay into a 403B. It’s never too early to start planning for your future.

What would you tell a prospective applicant about Springfield Masonic Community?

I love my job and the people that I work with. I feel like we are a team and we enjoy each other. We take care of each other. We are treated with respect and given the opportunity to show our independence and let our talents shine. When I look at Springfield Masonic Community, I see a small village. Everything that any of our community members need, can be found right here. You can exercise, get great meals and enjoy living at SMC. There is something here for everyone.

Why do you love working at Springfield Masonic Community?

There are so many reasons. Feeling appreciated always makes you want to come to work. For me, getting to work with some of our assisted living community members, helps me enjoy every day. Weight problems can be an issue for our senior population. Helping a person who is losing too much weight, gain their weight back is such a great feeling. The opposite also applies. One community member asked for help losing weight. I helped develop a plan that was not just for

weight loss, but changing eating habits. I have seen this person’s weight loss success. Seeing the happiness this brings to our community members, makes me know that I am just where I belong.
