March 2022 Superstar Spotlight

At Springfield Masonic Community, our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with Stacey, the Director of Life Enrichment so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Springfield Masonic Community. (SMC) Meet Stacey, a Springfield Masonic Community Super Star!

How long have you worked at Springfield Masonic Community (SMC)?

I have worked at SMC for 13 years. I started as an STNA and held that position for three years. For a very short time I worked in medical records. Then I saw how life enrichment benefited the lives of our community members and I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do. I have been the Director of Life Enrichment for four years. I also want on complete my national certification.

What makes Springfield Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

SMC is one big family. Family to me means our staff, but more importantly our community members. We take care of each other. We support each other through all types of issues, providing the appropriate support. Simply said, we care about each other.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

I handle budget, scheduling and payroll, but my favorite responsibility is to provide “person centered care and activities.” I set up classes/groups such as woodworking, sewing and Zentangle. I put together an activity calendar. I spend time with our community members to determine what they want to do.

I go by the philosophy “everyone, every day.” I see all of the community members in skilled nursing and Pathways every day. My team lives by the same motto and spends time with our community members every day. We want them to know they are special and that we care.

What are some of your favorite benefits Springfield Masonic Community offers?

The HOPE program is my favorite benefit. HOPE stands for Helping Our People Every day. The program is designed to help employees when they are in a time of need. Our leadership team approved seed money for the first deposit to the program. An initial generous gift of $25,000 demonstrates the care and compassion our organization has for our employees.

A personal benefit is getting to know our community members and listening to their stories. It is a walk down memory lane. I love history and I learn so much history by listening to our community members reminisce.

What would you tell a prospective applicant about Springfield Masonic Community?

This is a family and faith based place to work. People are accepting, friendly and kind. If you need help, there is always someone to turn to that will give you a hand and offer you help. Everyone is willing to help. You won’t find this atmosphere everywhere, but you will find it at the Springfield Masonic Community.

Why do you love working at Springfield Masonic Community?

Every morning I look forward to coming to work. My husband works here too and my children are growing up coming to events on our campus. They are excited for COVID to end so they can come back and continue to be a part of this special family.

I’ve made good friends at the Springfield Masonic Community, both staff and community members. Every day I feel safe and loved.
